Volunteers Needed

Our most pressing need is for dedicated volunteers!If you are a genuine dog lover, and care enough to want to make a difference - this is your chance!In spite of our frequent appeals for help, the number of volunteers keeps getting smaller.There are days when there are only 2 volunteers avaliable to do the work of at least 5! In Malta, there is too much talk - but little action! Even if you can only spare a couple of hours a week, we need you badly.... there are days when we too, feel like giving up! If you can`t face helping at the Sanctuary, you can still help us by volunteering at the Charity Shop.

Fundraising Events

There was a time when we would organise regular fund raising events throughout the year. In recent years, unfortunately, we had to stop as the amount of money raised from such events was not worth the work and time it involved for the committee members.

At present our main fundraiser is the Charity Shop in Paola. We also organise Carol Singing in December and we raise money from the sale of our calendar.

Please look out for news of any fundraising activities we may organise in the future and support us - it makes all the difference to us!

Financial Contributions  

Funds are always required to pay for food and medical expenses.As the Maltese summer approaches, we prepare ourself once again to battle fleas and ticks - another major expense, but vital to the health and wellbeing of our dogs. Telephone, rent,water and electricity bills must be paid too, and keeping the pens clean and the general maintenance of the Sanctuary makes quite a dent in our finances!

Please remember that when a donation is made through the bank,we are only given  the name of the donor and the amount deposited. If you would like to be included in the mailing list (for a newsletter), then please forward a copy of the Bank receipt to the usual address - P.O. Box 14, Paola.

Other Contributions

The Sanctuary sometimes requires the following items for bedding - blankets, sheets, and towels, as well as toys suitable for our dogs..

Any items ( except clothes and shoes) in good condition that you may wish to donate for the Charity Shop will be very gratefully received.

Telecards and Stamps

Please do not throw away your used telecards (MALTACOM, Easyline etc - not mobile top up cards pls) or any postage stamps. Instead send them to us, at the following address - The Island sanctuary, P.O. Box 14, Paola, Malta. Or drop them in at the Island Sanctuary at Fort Tas-Silg, Delimara, or the Charity Shop in Paola.
